Disney, Walt, and Bill Roberts. Winged Scourge. Burbank: Walt Disney Productions, 1943. Original format: 35 mm, 9:41 min. https://youtu.be/y68F8YwLWdg.

This Walt Disney production was filmed under the auspices of the Office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs. The meaning of its title is almost immediately apparent from the beginning of the film, a novel instance of using cartoon characters to disseminate 1940s public health information concerning the transmission of malaria by mosquitoes (Anopheles). At the same time, it provides a fresh angle from which to view classic, ongoing debates in the environmental humanities on the resilience of nature and the ability of human beings to adapt to their environments.
