[020] 26. Juni [1907] (Mittwoch). Am Sonntag morgen kamen Koch, Berthelsen und Tobias zurück. Sie hatten Pearys Warte erreicht und damit den Hauptzweck der Expedition erfüllt. Als sie von Mylius Erichsen schieden, wollte er noch 2 Tagereisen weiter in den Peary Kanal hineinfahren. Er war irrtümlich in einen großen, wohl über 100 km langen Fjord hineingefahren, in der Hoffnung, dass dies der Peary-Kanal sei. Daher die Verzögerung. Sie trafen etwas nördlich dieser Fjordmündung wieder auf Koch, der bereits auf dem Rückweg war. Koch klagte etwas über Berthelsen, er scheint also zum Schluß doch nicht mit ihm einverstanden gewesen zu sein. Sie bekamen nämlich beide Verstopfung infolge Genusses von ganz fettreiem Moschusoxfleisch. Von zu fettem bekommt man Durchfall, ganz ohne Fett giebt Verstopfung.

[020] 26 June [1907] (Wednesday). On Sunday, Koch, Berthelsen, and Tobias returned. They had reached Peary’s observation point, thereby completing the main goal of the expedition. When they separated from Mylius Erichsen, he wanted to continue traveling for 2 days into the Peary Canal. He had mistakenly made his way to a big fjord, over 100 km long, in the belief that this was the Peary Canal. This explains the delay. A bit further north of the fjord’s source, they met Koch again, who was on his way back. Koch complained about Berthelsen a bit, so in the end, he seemed to disagree with him. They both suffered from constipation as a consequence of eating entirely fat-free musk ox meat. While too much fat causes diarrhea, food without any causes constipation.
