[032] und eine Laus überhaupt zu erkennen. b) die hohen Temperaturen, man liegt nur mit Hemd im Schlafsack, daher wird nicht nur die Unterwäsche, sondern auch der Schlafsack und die ganze Kleidung verlaust. c) die Mücken, die einen immerfort stechen, so daß man nie weiß, ob es nicht eine Mücke war.
Gestern habe ich mit Schif, der wegen des vor ihm liegenden Geländes ziemlich entsetzt war, eine Rekognoszierung bis 2 km weiter vorgenommen. Er hat daraufhin beschlossen, die geplante Begleitung von Loewe bis 25 km aufzugeben (bloßer Zeitverlust!) und will montieren, sobald er unsren vorjährigen Z P II [Zeltplatz] erreicht. Ferner habe ich auch mit Holzapfel die Umgebung von Scheideck rekognosziert. Er will daraufhin das Sommerzelt und die met. [meteorologische] Station nicht auf die Moräne, sondern auf dem Landende aufstellen, wir sind beide über diesen Entschluß sehr glücklich. Zum Platz des Winterhauses ist es übrigens noch weit (etwa 2 Km). Das dürfen wir bei unseren Transportberechnungen nicht unterschätzen!

abends: Heute, wie auch schon gestern und Samstag, sind die unteren Pferde nur 2 mal

[032] (b) the high temperatures; we only wear a shirt when we are in are sleeping bags, and therefore, not only the underwear, but the entire sleeping bag and all our clothes have become infested with lice; (c) the mosquitos that are constantly biting us, so you know never know whether or not the bite came from a mosquito or a louse. Yesterday, I went with Schif, who was pretty appalled by the terrain that lay ahead of him, on a reconnaissance tour of some 2 kilometers. As a result, he decided to cancel his escort of Loewe until the 25 km mark (a total waste of time!) and will begin to set up as soon as he reaches last year’s Z P II [camp]. I also surveyed the Scheideck area with Holzapfel. Based on this, he does not want to set up the summer tent and the meteorological station on the moraine, but rather on the end of the land. We both are not pleased by this decision. From the winter house, it is still pretty far (some two kilometers). We can’t underestimate this distance when planning the transport!
