Karger, Knut. Was wird bleiben? [What will remain?] Munich: lüthje schneider hörl FILM, 2009. 16mm, miniDV, 78 min.

Director Knut Karger pieces together different perspectives on the long view of humanity’s future on Earth and its possible legacy. Whereas dinosaurs roamed the Earth for around 250 million years, the human race as we know it today can be said to have inhabited the planet for approximately a quarter of a million years. What will become of that which remains of our existence one thousdand, or even ten thousand, years hence? Or when, in something like five billion years, the sun turns into a red giant with a radius greater than the Earth’s orbit? Would it still be possible, even then, that a spacecraft in outer space may be found carrying remnants of human civilization? (Source: Official Press Kit)
