First Landscape Reservation in Australia

Originally designated as a nature reserve because of their natural beauty, the Jenolan Caves also have an important place in geological history. The word Jenolan means “high mountain” in the language of the aboriginal tribe of Gundungarra. Three hundred forty million years old, they are the world’s oldest open limestone caves.
