Rio+20 convened 20–22 June 2012 in the Brazilian metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, twenty years after the first “Earth Summit.” Leaders from the governments of United Nations Member States, as well as from civil society and business, sought to significantly contribute to sustainable development and environment and climate protection.
