Aleppo Earthquake

Seismic research and historical accounts date this earthquake to 10 October 1138. The earthquake destroyed the city of Aleppo and a vast area around it. Historical records account for about 230,000 casualties, but this number has been contested. Nonetheless, the earthquake is one of the five deadliest in recorded history, according to the United States Geological Survey.
