Genaue Niederschlagsmessungen, nicht im gestörten Randgebiet, sondern auf der Oberfläche des Inlandeises selbst, Temperaturmessungen im Innern des Eises bis in größere Tiefen hinein, das ganze Jahr hindurch fortgesetzt, sowie die Feststellung der gewöhnlichen klimatologischen Faktoren der Oberfläche, sind ein unbedingtes Erfordernis, und würden, wenn 1 mal während des Zeitraums eines Jahres auf einem einwandfreien Punkt der Eisdecke ausgeführt, Resultate von fundamentaler Bedeutung liefern. Übrigens würde eine solche Station auf dem Inlandeise nicht nur in glaziologischer, sondern auch in meteorologischer Beziehung eine lange gefühlte Lücke in unserem Wissen ausfüllen. Alle

Exact precipitation measurements, not on the fringes of the land, but on the surface of the ice sheet itself; year-round temperature measurements from inside the ice into its depths, and the establishment of normal climate-related factors on the surface are an absolute requirement and would, if conducted once over the course of a year on a certain spot on the ice surface, render results of fundamental importance. In addition, such a research station on the ice would not only help fill existing gaps in our knowledge about glaciers, but also in the field of meteorology. All
