[080] 3. Juni [1913] abends. Heute früh wurde am Aspirationspsychrometer -32,3° abgelesen. Das ist bisher unser Kälte-Rekord auf dem Inlandeis. Dafür brannte aber des Mittags die Sonne ganz barbarisch (bei immer noch ca -20° Lufttemperatur). Es war fast ganz still, und der Schnee war ebenso locker wie auf den früheren Tagesmärschen. Sastrugi oder wenigstens Andeutungen von solchen aus allen möglichen Richtungen. NW etwas vorherrschend. – Wir legten heute nach Schätzung der astronomischen Längenbestimmung ca. 13, 9 Kilometer zurück, mußten aber beiden Todeskandidaten, der Dame und dem Roten, auf der ganzen Strecke nach-
[080] 3 June [1913], evening. This morning the aspiration psychrometer read -32.3°. This is the lowest temperature that we’ve recorded on the ice sheet. Around noon, however, the sun was shining quite brutally (with the air temperature still only around -20°). It was very still, and the snow was also loose, as on our early trips. Sastrugi, or at least suggestions of them, from all directions, predominantly NW. – Today, according to astronomical length measurements, we travelled about 13.9 km, but had to help our two half-dead horses, Lady and Red, the whole trip through.
