Auf alle Fälle sind diese Verhältnisse noch niemals früher untersucht worden, und haben daher ein besonderes glaziologisches Interesse. Auch die Beobachtungen über die Schichtung des Firnschnees (vgl. die Zahlenangaben über die stets sehr dünnen, oft auskeilenden Schichten) und über die Zunahme der Dicke des Schnees mit der Tiefe (Das spezifische Gewicht beträgt
