In this talk between environmental history and curatorial practice, historian Kate Brown and curator Antonia Alampi reflect on their experiences on working with toxicity. As the author of Manual for Survival: A Chernobyl Guide to the Future, Kate Brown address her experiences with toxicity, radioactivity, and ecology during her fieldwork. Antonia Alampi critically reflects on her curatorial projects and the possibilities and limits of curating, dispersing, and mediating knowledge on toxicity through exhibitions. This public keynote event was co-hosted by the DFG Hazardous Travels research team and the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society.
