Mallee Residues: A Family Photograph Album from Southern Australia

|

This photographic essay looks at the visual record of European-descent settlers who moved from urban areas to clear land in the Australian Mallees for agriculture. In a series of photographs taken by settlers themselves, the author examines the way that the landscape was perceived and changed by the newcomers, and how the settlers saw themselves and their work.
