Tom Griffiths argues for the importance of environmental history, and gives us three reasons for the uniqueness of the environmental history of Australia. Australia’s deep time perspective, its ecological distinctiveness, and the revolution unleashed by its colonization all contribute to a very specific environmental history. This uniquely Australian experience has lessons for our understanding of the environment across the globe.
