Susanne Leikam explores the extreme weather hero and performed masculinity in contemporary American pop culture. The extreme weather hero, a male heroic idol, often presents in these stories as a figure who knows how to control nature and reassert order. Using the popular culture film Sharknado (2013) as an example, Leikam explores and analyzes the underlying gendered assumptions of the extreme weather hero.
