The concept of the Anthropocene has traversed the boundaries of geology to occupy the discourses of many other disciplines. Julia Adeney Thomas explores three narratives that have emerged as a result of the concept of the Anthropocene and the scientific evidence that shows we are steering a course towards a Hothouse Earth. Encouraging dialogue between the natural sciences, the humanities, social sciences, and the arts, Thomas calls for multidisciplinary approaches as the best way of developing resilience and changing the course of Earth’s trajectory.
