The production of this short May Day issue of the ALARM is taken on by the editorial collective of the Big River EF! group. It includes reports on the International Day of Action against Hydro-Quebec, Monsanto policy, the general labor strike in Spain, and several environmental poems.
The local group Massachusetts Earth First! has produced this issue of the ALARM. In it, readers are asked to write letters of encouragement to prisoners of conscience; Don Ogden calls for attention to the Western Abenaki people and their struggle for the health of their fishing waters; and Barbara McGovern updates readers on the radioactive waste management proposal in Massachusetts.
This issue of the ALARM is produced by women only. It is dedicated to the struggle to smash down patriarchy and save the planet, expresses solidarity with activists struggling against capitalist-patriarchal devastation as womyn, and “affirms our existence and our power on the front lines of the resistance.” Aimee Mostwill discusses pregnancy, abortion, and overpopulation; Judi Bari explains “why I am not a misanthrope.”
Earth First! Journal 22, no. 5 features articles on the end of old growth logging in New Zealand, law collectives against “a harassing” legal system, the revival of the archaic and the wilderness of mind, and the EF! battle front against the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
In this issue of Earth First! Journal Lacey Phillabaum tells the story of when the Two Elk Lodge (Vail Ski Resort, Colorado) was burnt down for the sake of preserving ancient forests. Moreover, Pori Kwa Milele reports from the actions against illegal development in Nairobi’s Karura Forests, and Ben White discusses the Makah whale hunt.
Earth First! 27, no. 2 features articles on nuclear resistance in Germany, Trinidad community’s fight against the Alcoa aluminum smelter, Molokai’i activists’ battle to “save the last Hawaiian island”, and the self-sustaining community Umoja Village Shantytown in Miami.
Earth First! Journal 31, no. 3 presents thoughts on jaguar recovery in the United States, ecocide and renewal in Iraq’s marshlands, South Florida forest defense work, and native land rights at Glen Cove.
Earth First! Journal 32, no. 1 features issues concerning monkeywrenching, “Colonialism, Biofuels and Land Rights in Central America,” ecological warfare, and the merging of deep green resistance and the occupy movement.
Earth First! Journal 32, no. 2 features essays on “Colonial Louisiana in the 20th Century,” digital eco-defense, greenwashing, and solidarity in a biocentric movement.
