"Histories of Protected Areas: Internationalisation of Conservationist Values and their Adoption in the Netherlands Indies (Indonesia)"

Based on a review of international conservation literature, three inter-related themes are explored: a) the emergence in the 1860–1910 period of new worldviews on the human-nature relationship in western culture; b) the emergence of new conservation values and the translation of these into public policy goals; and 3) the adoption of these policies by the Netherlands Indies government.

"Mountain Forest Policy in Austria: A Historical Policy Analysis on Regulating a Natural Resource"

Employing a policy analysis framework, this paper inquires into the role institutions played in regulating mountain forests in different political-institutional eras in Austria. Theories from political sciences and environmental history are used for a critical re-analysis of forest historical literature.

"Technological Transformation and Water Conflicts in the Bhavani River Basin of Tamil Nadu, 1930–1970"

This article examines in a historical perspective (1930–1970) the water conflicts that have occurred due to technological transformation in water lifting devices (viz.: electric and oil-engine pumpsets) in the agricultural sector in the old Kalingarayan channel and new Lower Bhavani Project canal of the Bhavani River Basin in Tamil Nadu.
