Conference on Technology for Human Development

In debates surrounding “Limits to Growth,” the World Council of Churches (WCC) developed a new model for a “fair and sustainable society” at the World Conference on Science and Technology for Human Development in Bucharest, Romania. Given the world’s grave environmental and distribution problems, the WCC began then to view society’s need to progress towards sustainability as both urgent and necessary.
