Convention on Biological Diversity

The Convention on Biological Diversity, presented at the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), is a legally binding international agreement commited to conserving the world’s biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components, and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits from the use of genetic resources. It is one of the key documents relating sustainable development.
