Dauerwaldmodell for forests as a “rotating system”

Professor of silviculture Alfred Möller (1860–1922) introduced the Dauerwaldmodell in Germany in 1922. The model calls for the inclusion of diverse plant species at various stages of growth in forests with a view to reproducing the conditions and diversity of a primeval forest and sustaining the character of the forest as a “rotating system.”
