"Greening of the White House"

The “Greening of the White House” initiative improved the building’s energy and environmental performance by capitalizing on opportunities to reduce waste, lower energy use, increase use of renewable resources, and improve indoor air quality. This modernization of the White House in Washington DC along the principles of sustainability was one of the first significant and highly publicized successes of the “green building” movement.
