Johannesburg Summit

The World Summit for Sustainable Development (WSSD, Rio+10) took place in Johannesburg from 26 September until 4 August 2002. The summit focused on formulating a model for the realization of sustainable development in an era of globalization and rapid technological advancements. A ten-year framework was created for the establishment of sustainable principles in consumption and production. This framework was fortified at an international conference in Marrakesh, and is now referred to as the “Marrakesh Process.”
