The World Summit for Social Development took place from 6-12 March 1995 in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was the largest gathering of world leaders assembled to establish common goals for the fight against poverty. The resulting “Copenhagen Declaration” was the first major international statement to link social development and sustainable environmental development.
