UN Conference on the Human Environment, in Stockholm

The 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm was the first UN conference focused solely on the global environment, marking the beginning of international environmental politics. Delegates codified twenty-six principles for the environment and development. One of the most important achievements of the conference was the articulation of the UN Environmental Program (UNEP), which would be established in Nairobi, Kenya, the same year.
