UN Millennium Goals

At the UN Millennium Summit in New York from 6–8 September 2000, the world community established eight basic Development Goals to be met by the year 2015. These goals include eradicating poverty and hunger; achieving universal primary education; empowering women; reducing infant mortality; improving maternal health; fighting diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria; environmental sustainability; and sustainable development.
