[126] Roman – Gustav Fensens Klaus Heinrich Baas (in dänischer Übersetzung!) fesselte mich sehr – hin und wieder eine erfrischende Diskussion mit Koch über eine wissenschaftliche Frage oder eine Partie Schach und im übrigen die einförmige tägliche Arbeit, nämlich in 3 tägigem Turnus (da Koch noch nicht teilnehmen kann): Kochen, Lampen- und Ofenputzen, und Reinigen des Pferdestalls. Kochs Fuß bessert sich langsam. Zu Weihnachten wird er voraussichtlich so weit sein, daß er hier an der Station wieder alles mitmachen kann.
[126] novel—Gustav Fensen’s Klaus Heinrich Baas (in Danish translation!) is quite compelling—now and then a refreshing discussion with Koch about a scientific question, or a round of chess. The rest of the time we do our monotonous daily work, namely in a 3 day cycle (since Koch is not able to participate): cooking, dealing with the lanterns and cleaning the horse stall. Koch’s foot is slowly getting better. By Christmas he will probably be well enough to participate in all the happenings at the station again.
