[141] – Auch heute vormittag hält der heftige Schneesturm an. Mittags beginnt der Wind etwas abzuflauen. Föhnwolken stehen vor den Küstenbergen. Es sind 4° Wärme! Der Schnee ist sehr weich, es hat aber aufgehört zu fegen. Der Wind wächst zwar wieder auf ca. 10 ½, aber der angeschmolzene Schnee gibt kein Material für das Fegen. Ich mache 3 Aufnahmen, Kelbl und Kraus arbeiten an den Schlitten, um Starterleichterungen zu schaffen. Meine Schlitten-Hosen sind schon fast wieder trocken. Wenn es doch jetzt still und kalt würde, dann hätten wir spiegelnde Bahn! Aber der Wind so wie er jetzt ist, stört schon sehr, und er wächst wieder! – unsere Motoren haben nun 100 PS gegen 150 bei den Finnen. Und dabei sind unsre Schlitten größer und schwerer, und sie sollen Lasten, nicht Personen, befördern. Ich fürchte fast, dies

[141] – This morning, too, the heavy snow storm has halted. Around noon the wind is beginning to subside. Foehn clouds are obscuring the coastal mountains. It is 4° above freezing! The snow is very soft, but it has stopped drifting. The wind is increasing again to about 10 ½, but the melting snow leaves nothing that can be blown about. I take 3 photographs, Kelbl and Kraus are working on the sleds in an attempt to get them to start better. My pants are almost dry again. If only it were calm and cold, then would have a mirror-like track! But the wind, the way it is now, is extremely bothersome, and is growing again!
