[155] Übergang über d. Fjord. 11. Juli 11 p. Mitternacht 13-14 Hausbau auf halber Höhe an dem 500m-Bergen. 24 Stunden Aufenthalt im Schneewetter. Am 15. Vorm. Versuch, die Besteigung fortzusetzen, nach Aufhören des Nebels, muß aufgegeben werden. Am 13. Abends Beginn des Aufstiegs zur 500m-Höhe im Regen, Berg im Nebel. Kurz darauf Schwächeanfälle; letzten Proviant verbraucht, dann fortgesetzt wegen Schwäche. Trotz Kampfertropfen wurden wir fast ohnmächtig. Zum Haus zurückgegangen und Gloë geschlachtet. Die Hälfte als Suppe gekocht.
[155] Ford crossing 11 July, 11 pm. Midnight 13–14th. Built a hut halfway up the 500 m high mountain. 24 hours traveling in the snowy weather 15th, morning. Attempted to continue our climb after the fog cleared. Had to stop on the 13th, in the evening, started ascent of 500 m in rain, mountain in fog. Shortly after, spells of weakness; used up the rest of our provisions, then continued on due to fatigue. Nearly passed out in spite of the camphor drops. Went back to the house and slaughtered Gloë. Used half of him to make soup.
