Schon hier kam die Karawane mehrmals auseinander. Dann kamen wir in „Skonis“ [„Schraubeis“], und hier begann Schnee Drift. Bald war M.E. voraus, ich und Thostrup folgten ihm unmittelbar, die anderen 3 später. Als wir passierten, um die anderen auflaufen zu lassen, kamen sie nicht. M.E. ging zurück, aber musste konstatieren, daß unsere Spur verweht war. So waren wir getrennt. Glücklicherweise hatten wir 3 – obwohl wir nicht zusammengehörten, Zelt und Proviant. Wir beschlossen nun direkt Kurs auf das Land zu nehmen und dort Zelt aufzuschlagen. Zu guter Letzt ging noch wieder M.E.‘s Schlitten aus dem Leim, und bei meinem Schlitten
